Unique Experience Playing in 600 year old Temple in Mandasa

With the blessings of His Holiness Sri Chinnajeeyar Swamiji and His Holiness Sri Ahobila Jeeyar Swamiji, I had a one in a lifetime opportunity to perform in front Lord Mandasa Vasudeva Perumal during the morning services and evening program on the Bramhothsavam or anniversary of the temple. It was a memorable and divine experience for me.

There is a very rich history associated with the village of Madasa located in the Srikakulam district of Andra Pradesh, India. Mandasa is near Mahendragiri, the highest peak of the Eastern Ghats and boasts a beautiful view of the Bay of Bengal. Circa 1200 AD, Raja Vaman Singh Deo, a northern king, gave up his kingdom and did penance. After receiving a divine vision he went on to establish the territory of Manjusha.

My performance was reminiscent of traditional temple anniversaries in India where people simply listened to good music and enjoyed themselves. I give my humble pranams to Sri Swamiji for giving me this unique opportunity serve the Lord and His devotees.
